LET GOD LEAD THE WAY

“And HE LED THEM forth by the RIGHT WAY, that they might go to a city for a dwelling place” – Psalm 107:7

In all of life’s circumstances, it pays to LET GOD LEAD THE WAY: “And HE LED THEM forth by the RIGHT WAY, that they might go to a city for a dwelling place” (Psa.107:7). We learnt yesterday that God knows the way that we take (Job 23:10). Only He Who Himself is the Way (Jh.14:6) and knows the way, can lead us in the RIGHT WAY: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Pro.14:12). Divine Direction belongs to God: “O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps” (Jer.10:23).

We may believe since God gave us free will, it’s up to us to choose what to do and where to go. Yes, God gave us the ability to choose but He wants us to choose His ways – to follow His leading. Our Lord Jesus Christ says: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand” (Jh.10: 27-28). Romans 8:14 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Rom.8:14). God led Israel to the Promised Land: “The Lord was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to LEAD THEM ON THE WAY, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.” (Exo.13:21-22).

David cherished God’s leading: “You will show me the PATH of LIFE; in Your presence is FULLNESS of JOY; at Your right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Psa.16:11). The beauty of following God’s leading is that we’ll find fullness of Joy, Peace, and eternal pleasures. A life that’s filled with real Joy – not fleeting happiness based on happenings and things – cannot happen apart from God: “Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with JOY INEXPRESSIBLE and full of glory” (1Pet.1:8b). Joy Unspeakable – is only found on the path where God is leading: “For you shall GO OUT with JOY, and be LED OUT with PEACE; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands” (Isa.55:12). With God leading, we always go out with Joy and are led out with Peace!

God’s Joy and Peace God are supernatural works of His Holy Spirit, not what the world can give or take away: “PEACE I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid…These things I have spoken to you, that MY JOY may remain in you, and that YOUR JOY may be full” (Jh.14:27; 15:11). Let’s allow God lead the way in the light of His Word and His Presence.

Beloved, let’s do a self-check: What path am I on now – where God is leading or I leading myself? How am I making decisions in life? Do I believe it’s all up to me or do I rely on God to direct my steps? Proverbs 3: 5-7 encourages us:  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in ALL YOUR WAYS acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil.”

When we let go and let God, our desired haven and place in destiny are guaranteed: “Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are quiet; so He guides them to their DESIRED HAVEN” (vv.28-30).
