Genesis 45: 1-15

“…YOU SOLD ME here; for GOD SENT ME before you to preserve life” – Genesis 45:5b

Joseph’s MODEL of VISIONARY IMPACT unveils the interworking of divine orchestration and human preparation: “But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because YOU SOLD ME here; for GOD SENT ME before you to preserve life. For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance” (Gen.45: 5-7). He who was sold my men, in God’s providence, was SENT to preserve a posterity for his brethren.

Joseph did not immediately reveal himself to his brothers after they had arrived in Egypt to seek food during the famine, but rather tested their sincerity and willingness to work together. Thereafter, he revealed his identity. His actions demonstrate visionary impact through strategic planning, ability to forgive, and commitment to the well-being of his family and the land.

Strategic Planning: Joseph’s previous role in interpreting dreams, particularly Pharaoh's, had lifted him to a height of authority and impact. By foresight, he prepared Egypt for the famine, stored food and ensured the people’s survival. By strategically placing his brothers in a position of need, he was able to assess their character and learn about their ability to work together.

Forgiveness and Reconciliation: Joseph's revelation to his brothers strongly demonstrated his commitment to forgiveness and reconciliation. He addressed them with an understanding tone, acknowledging their past errors while highlighting God's plan for his life. He emphasized that God had sent him to Egypt to save lives, not punish them. This act of forgiveness allowed for the restoration of family relationships, indicating Joseph's ability to move beyond past grievances and focus on the future.

Leadership Commitment: Verses 13-15 reveal Joseph’s commitment to his family and their well-being. He told his brothers to inform his father about his position and the abundance of food in Egypt, indicating his desire to provide for his father and family. He showed his willingness to work with his brothers, ensuring that they all receive the food they need. This leadership and commitment exemplify his vision for a united and prosperous future for his family and the land of Egypt.

God had a Grand Agenda into which Joseph’s seemingly personal dreams and private visions dovetailed. His visionary Impact was a testament to the power of preparation meeting Divine Orchestration: So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt” (v.8). Joseph’s story is a vivid representation of the great truth that “…all things work together for good to those who love God…” (Rom.8:28).

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
