Bible Meditation:
Deuteronomy 17:14-20

Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a BOOK– Deuteronomy 17:18a

The God-given principles that governed kings in Israel recognized IMPACT by the BOOK: “Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a BOOK, from the one before the priests, the Levites. And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statutes” (Deut.17:18-19). These scriptures outline the responsibilities of a future king of Israel, emphasizing the importance of humility, obedience to God's law, and the avoidance of idolatry.

Verse 19 specifically addressed the king, outlining a practice of daily engagement with God's law. The king was mandated to write out a copy of the law for himself and read it daily, to learn to fear the Lord, obey His commands, and avoid arrogance or turning away from God's Word. This continuous engagement with scripture shaped royal character, leading to reverence for God and a life aligned with His Will. Studying God’s Word and putting it into practice are both crucial.

Here are highlights of four key areas of impact:

Humility: The king's act of writing and reading the law was meant to remind him that he was not above his people and that God was the ultimate sovereign. It served as a check on pride and arrogance.

Constant Access to Scripture: Emphasizes the importance of the leader having the law readily available and engaging with it regularly. Consistent interaction with Scripture could shape the leader's character, influencing decisions and actions.

Reverence and Obedience to God's Law: The daily reading of the law was intended to instil a habit of obedience to God's commands, ensuring that the king would lead the nation according to God's Will. Furthermore, reading His Word is a means to cultivate reverence and awe for God. The ultimate goal is not just understanding the law but also actively obeying it.

Blessings of Prosperity and Stability: By remaining faithful to God's law, the king was promised continued reign and blessings for himself and his descendants. This highlights the connection between obedience and national prosperity.

Today’s meditation provides a blueprint for righteous leadership, emphasizing the importance of humility, obedience, and faithfulness to God's Law as the foundation for a stable and prosperous nation. It also serves as a reminder that leaders and all, should immerse ourselves in God's Word to cultivate a right relationship with Him and live in accordance with His Will.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
