Bible Meditation:
1 Timothy 4: 6-16

“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity” – 1 Timothy 4:12

Authentic MINISTRY and LEADERSHIP IMPACT are founded on Godliness and Sound Doctrine: “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Tim.4:12). God-glorifying Impact is built through consistent, exemplary communication, conduct, and divine disciplines. These require leaders to reject false teaching, discipline themselves for godliness, and devotedly disseminate the truth through public reading, preaching, and teaching, making their progress evident to themselves and others: “that your progress may be evident to all” (v.15b).

Our meditation passage unveils five pertinent points:

Training in Sound Doctrine: A good minister and positively impactful leader must be nourished by the words of faith and good doctrine, rejecting false teachings and understanding that God's Word is the foundation for all true doctrine (vv.6-7).

Discipline for Godliness: True leadership is rooted in personal godliness, that is, a daily discipline to live to honour God: “Exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things” (vv.7b-8a).

Setting an example for Believers: Good Ministers and Leaders are positive examples in every area of life, which includes their labour, trust in the living God, speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity (vv.9-12)

Devotion to Ministry: Good Ministers and Leaders are called to the responsibility of public reading of Scripture, preaching, and teaching, recognizing these as sacred trusts: “Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine” (v.13).

Developing the Spiritual Gift: Leaders should recognize, develop, and faithfully use their God-given gifts to fulfill their calling through diligence and vigilance (vv.14-16).

Paul essentially focused on core values, identifying five specific areas of exemplary living, namely:

Speech: Speaking truthfully, respectfully, and with grace.

Conduct: Behaving with integrity, honesty, and kindness.

Love: Showing genuine care and compassion for others.

Faith: Being unwavering in belief and trusting God, especially during challenges.

Purity: Sustaining spiritual and moral cleanliness in thoughts and actions.

In essence, impactful ministry provides a spiritual foundation of sound doctrine that prevents followers from being swayed by false narratives; inspires believers to live exemplarily; promotes spiritual maturity; preserves the faith through diligent self-examination and doctrinal integrity; and earns respect based on character, consistency, and faithful service. Leadership Impact comes from a life of consistent character rather than age or authority. God can use anyone, regardless of age, for His purposes.

Ministry Impact is about daily choices and habits, not a position or platform. Believers are called to be role models in words and deeds. The ultimate goal of Ministry Impact is the salvation and spiritual growth of both leaders and followers: “Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you” (v.16).

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
