“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair” – 2 Corinthians 4:8
A LIFESTYLE of RESILIENCE with God-glorifying Impact is desirable and possible in Christ: “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Cor.4:8-9). Even though believers may face adversities and challenges, we are sustained by God's power and our hope in eternal glory; ultimately leading to greater impact for Him. In times of trouble, His Word provides comfort and encouragement, serving as a beacon of hope and strength. In Christ, we are resilient overcomers: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (Jh.16:33).
Resilience, the ability to withstand and recover from tough situations, is a key theme woven through the tapestry of Scripture. Whether facing personal challenges, societal upheaval, or spiritual trials, we’re reassured of God’s unwavering presence and support. Paul describes believers as “earthen vessels” or “jars of clay,” highlighting human frailty and vulnerability. However, this “treasure” – the glorious gospel of Christ – is placed within us, displaying God's power working through human weakness: “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us” (v.7). This speaks of prized treasure in fragile vessels! Through faith, we can find the fortitude to persevere and emerge stronger from adversities.
Using terms such as “afflicted,” “perplexed,” “persecuted,” and “cast down,” the scriptures acknowledge the reality of enduring suffering and trials in the Christian life (vv.8-9). However, also emphasized is the fact that these experiences are not the defining aspects of the believer's life. Rather, God's Power working through human weakness enables believers to persevere through trials, thus demonstrating His Glory to the world, as He displays His faithfulness and strength in the midst of adversity.
Resilience is not automatic; it is fuelled by a focus on the unseen and eternal, rather than the seen and temporary: “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (vv.17-18). Let’s fix our gaze on the future glory which far outweighs present suffering.
Besides the eternal glory in the heaven, through trials and perseverance, believers are transformed into the likeness of Christ, in character and conduct. This transformation, then allows us to have a greater impact on others, pointing them towards God.

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
