GOD’S WORDS OF WELLNESS (2)

“And WALK in all the WAYS that I have commanded you, that it may be WELL with you” – Jeremiah 7:23b

Obedience is the key to enjoying the privileges of GOD’S WORDS of WELLNESS: “But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘OBEY MY VOICE, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be WELL with you” (Jer.7:23). God will ensure that all is well with us at all times and regarding all situations; if only we’ll be obedient to His Instructions, walking in all the ways He has commanded us. This implies that we must be enlightened in His Words.

In God’s first revelation to Israel as Jehovah Rapha, Obedience was primary: “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I AM the LORD WHO HEALS you” (Exo.15:26). Again, in Exodus 23: 20-25, “Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. Beware of Him and OBEY His voice; do not provoke Him...So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.” Obedience to God’s Word is fundamental to Health and Wellness.

Obedience to God means promptness to do exactly what He tells us to do, with the right attitude and at the right time. Our scriptural text says, when we obey His voice, then He will be our God and all will be well with us. When we live in disobedience, it will be the complete opposite. If God be for us, who can be against us? When the reality of this truth dawns in our spirit, we’ll submit totally to God in obedience and it will be well with us. Having God on our side means we’ll live in constant victory, fearful of nothing. David understood and lived this truth; hence, he wrote: “The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” (Psa.118:6).

The notion of Wellness implies that although God can heal supernaturally, in many instances we need to take our health into our hands by acquiring and practicing the right kind of knowledge. Our generations are witnessing massive spiritual attacks targeted at the health of Believers in Christ, and these are becoming exponential. In these last days, the devil is doing all that he can to weaken the Body of Christ. Many people are questioning God’s promises of healing, health, and wellness in the face of terrible sicknesses and debilitating diseases. Meanwhile, a large proportion of sicknesses are traceable to habits and lifestyles. Some people eat or drink themselves into illness and then blame God for not healing them, while others might end up losing their faith.

Our bodies are not our own; they are God’s temple (1Cor.3: 16-17; 6:9). We must be mindful of what we feed and fuel our bodies with: “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1Cor.10:1). Are we submitting to God in our diets and lifestyle? Are we being led by the Holy Spirit? We invest in and maintain our houses and cars to last long in good condition. How are we taking care of God’s temple that He wants to flow through to save souls and bring His Kingdom to Earth?

The devil’s ultimate goal in attacking believers is to cause us to lose our faith in Jesus Christ. It's crucial to understand that God loves us and wants all to be well with us, but this requires that we surrender to Him in obedience. Having obtained the Key to Wellness, let’s begin to practice a life of total obedience and it will indeed be well with us, in Jesus’ name. Amen! Glory to God!
