Luke 17: 1-10

Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, FORGIVE HIM – Luke 17:3

FORGIVING HEARTS are critical to receiving Faith and Mercy for HEALING and HEALTH: “Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, FORGIVE HIM. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall FORGIVE HIM” (Lk.17: 3-4). When Jesus taught His disciples to forgive, they requested that their faith be increased – the Faith to Forgive. The Lord proceeded to show them that they already had that Faith in them. God has allotted to every man the measure of Faith (Rom.12:3). What we need to do is to put our Faith to work (vv.6-10). Our faith is like a servant that must be put to work. Offences are bound to come (v.1). But with Grace and Faith, the Holy Spirit enables us to respond with Forgiveness, and obtain Mercy!

To Forgive means: To release someone and let them go; to pardon or overlook an offence and treat the offender as not guilty; or to bestow a favour unconditionally. The proof of release is the willingness to treat the person as if he or she never offended us. Forgiveness is not given because someone apologised, promises to behave in a particular way, vows never to act in a wrong manner, or pledges to do what’s right. Daily in life, we’re faced with opportunities to be offended or to walk in love and forgive. People will place obstacles on our path that we could stumble over if we are not wary. Some offences hurt slightly; others cut real deep into the heart, leaving lingering effects.

Some offences can easily be fixed; some others result in irreparable loss. People seem to just show up from nowhere and deal us unjust blows. The world is full of hurting and wounded folks; some of whose testimony could be: “I was wounded in the house of my friends” (Zech.13:6b). Without letting these offences go, we end up becoming a liability to others, because hurting people hurt people. Whatever the level of offence, God desires for us to forgive. It may not always be easy, but it always pays to ‘Let It Go’! If we depend on God, He will give us the Grace to Forgive. The pain might have caused us to shed tears, yet our tears will become the rain on another’s desert!

Un-forgiveness is a roadblock that hinders people from receiving God’s Best for their lives. Un-forgiveness hinders and restrains one from relating properly with people. It cuts one off from helpers of destiny. Like Joseph, we might have been ostracised by loved ones. Yet, we are not at liberty to access our ‘palace’ until we release ourselves from the ‘prison’ of un-forgiveness. Cultivating and sustaining a Forgiving Heart are vital to running unhindered in the race of life. Every offence is an opportunity to put forgiveness to work.

The Life of Forgiveness is such a rewarding life that anyone who refuses to abide therein is missing out on so much blessing: “If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained” (Jh.20:23). When we forgive, we don’t only release the other person, but our own self. That’s why a person who haughtily condemns another person’s error may soon be caught in the same! Forgiveness releases; un-forgiveness binds. Forgiveness opens; un-forgiveness imprisons. Forgiveness heals; un-forgiveness hurts!

A sister was attacked by a strange ailment that defied all forms of medication. Different men of God had come and prayed with no respite for her condition. Finally, a minister came who sensed by the Holy Spirit that there was un-forgiveness in that family. He told them that until they dealt with that spirit, nothing would happen to her. Immediately they forgave themselves, the sister was healed! Until we forgive – whether the individual deserves forgiveness or not – the person who abused or mistreated us is to some extent in control of our life! It takes forgiveness to release the healing power of God in and through us to our generation. When we sow forgiveness, we reap Mercy!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
