Bible Meditation:
Revelation 4: 1-11

“You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and BY YOUR WILL they exist and were created – Revelation 4:11

God’s Will for each of His creatures and especially the Redeemed, is to FIND and FULFIL PURPOSE: “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and BY YOUR WILL they exist and were created (Rev.4:11). Fulfilling Purpose begins with acknowledging God as Creator of all. A song is proof that a composer exists. A book is an obvious footprint of an author. Only fools question if God exists (Psa.14:1). The wise ask Purpose-related questions: Why did He make me? What is my Assignment on the earth? Who am I? Why am I here? What is the reason for my existence? What does He want me to do or be? What problem was I created to solve?

God is the Designer and Creator of all that’s in the Universe. He is the incredibly-organised, meticulously-detailed Master Planner. Like any effective and successful manufacturer, He is totally committed to the success of His products, including you and I who were created in His Image and Likeness (Gen.2: 26-28). Twenty-four elders, crowned in gold and clothed in white robes, sitting on thrones around God’s Throne, are fulfilling their purposes (vv.4,10). So are the “four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back” (vv.6-9). All of the hosts of heaven – including seraphims and cherubims – fulfil unique purposes (Isa.6:2-3; Eze.10:20). You and I are designed for specific purposes!

Revelation 4:11b (KJV) says, “and for THY PLEASURE they are and were created.” All things exist for God’s Pleasure! We were created to be Instruments of Pleasure to Him. God has His likes and dislikes, dreams and expectations. And He has given us the power to please or displease Him! In general, we can give God pleasure through: worship (Jh.4: 23-24); praise (Psa.33:1; 100:4); prayer (2Chr.7:14); spiritual-mindedness (Rom.8:8-9); proclaiming His Word (Rom.10: 14-15); and walking and living by Faith in the Word (Heb.10:38; 11:6).

In particular, God is pleased through every act of obedience that progressively perfects His goals and Purpose in our lives. That’s how the Son pleased His Father: And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him” (Jh.8:29). Obedience is simply cooperating with God to achieve find and fulfil Purpose. Here are more Questions of Purpose to ponder on:

What does God want me to leave behind or be known for when I am done?

Why am I on the earth now, not 100 years ago or 100 years from now?

What would I commit my life to doing even if I didn’t get paid?

What do I believe in so much that I’ll feel miserable not attaining it in this lifetime?

What do I want to outlast me? How best will my life be summarised?

Let’s ponder, trust and obey!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
