THE WAY TO HEAVEN

For I HAVE COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me” – John 6:38

Our Lord Jesus Christ is THE WAY TO HEAVEN: “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I HAVE COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life…” (Jh.6: 37-40a). He who came down from Heaven is best positioned to take us there! The Father’s Will is for His Son to bring many sons into Glory; to usher those who believe in Him into heaven after earth’s sojourn (Heb.2:10).

Peter, speaking to the Sanhedrin, clearly proclaimed Jesus as the only way to Heaven: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Here are some credible reasons we can be confident that Jesus is the Way to Heaven:

Jesus is the only One who came down from Heaven and returned there: “No one has ASCENDED TO HEAVEN but He who CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, that is, the Son of Man who IS IN HEAVEN”  (Jh.3:13). Who else can be trusted to lead us to Heaven but the One who created Heaven and Earth and is Himself the Beginning?

Jesus is the only Person to have passed through the heavens having lived a perfect human life: “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has PASSED THROUGH THE HEAVENS, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Heb.4: 14-15). Now, He sits majestically on the Throne of Grace and bids us to come boldly (Heb.4:16).

Jesus spoke of Himself as the only Way to Heaven: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. …I AM THE WAY, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (Jh.14: 1-3,6).

Jesus is the only Mediator between God and Man: “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, to be testified in due time” (1Tim.2:5).

Jesus is the most highly exalted Man: “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil.2:9-11).

Jesus is the only Man to have conquered death forever:  “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Heb.2: 14-15).

Jesus died, rose, ascended into Heaven, and will come back: “This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11b). Our Father-God would have us established, to stand, walk, and abide in Christ Jesus as the only credible, unfailing WAY to HEAVEN!
