“For we WALK BY FAITH, not by sight” 2 Corinthians 5:7

To Walk in God’s Way is to WALK BY FAITH: “For we WALK BY FAITH, not by sight” (2 Cor.5:7). Christianity is essentially the Walk of Faith. Our Lord Jesus Christ stated: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (Jh.20:29b). Believers in Christ “do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2Cor.4:18). Walking by Faith means that, even though we may not see God working right now, we trust and believe that He is preparing us for blessings and relief from what we may face somewhere down the road. We are ready to navigate the world solely on our trust in God and belief in the unseen!

Learning from Abraham’s example, walking by faith requires us to go to a place we do not know, one that God will reveal as we walk in obedience (Gen.12:1). Martin Luther King Jr. said: “Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase”! To walk by faith means, to keep moving even though we might not be able to see where we’re going!

Learning from the example of Joseph, walking by faith means to continue to cling to the dreams God has planted in our heart, even when we’ve been let down by trusted brethren or put in prison for crimes we didn’t commit (Gen.37-39). Walking by faith means that we keep rejoicing and praising God through the tough times, knowing that He is still in control.

Learning from Daniel’s example, walking by Faith requires a strong resolve to follow God’s Plan regardless of adversities. From the example of Esther, walking by faith means that we have the courage to stand up for the broken, hurting, and down-trodden, and to face death for the good of others. Esther, by faith, risked the death penalty to save the Jews!

Walking by Faith is sometimes lonely, except for the presence of Christ by His Spirit, left to all believers as the “Guarantee”: “Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee” (v.5). We are often called to stand firm in faith in spite of the isolated place our faith may lead us to.

The Walk of Faith is however also a Walk in Victory: “Whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the Victory that overcomes the world, even our Faith” (1Jh.5:4). By faith, ordinary folks live extraordinary lives. People of Faith are set apart and equipped to accomplish the “impossible.” The Way of Faith contradicts physical senses but aligns with the Spirit!

The Walk of Faith implies our preparedness to play the part of a fool as long as God is glorified! Let’s consider Noah building an ark for a flood when it had never rained on earth. Let’s bring to mind Abraham clinging to the promise that he would be the father of many nations even though he was childless at age 100. Let’s remember Moses standing before the Israelites in the wilderness telling them they would eat meat in abundance, but having no idea where that meat would come from. Let’s recall Joshua marching around the walls of Jericho as God had told him to and wondering what good it was going to do.

Our meditation text reveals that this worldly body is a temporary tent. We have a much better dwelling place waiting for us in heaven. Walking by faith means that we live today according to God’s promises even though we cannot see them, not according to the ephemeral things that we often focus on here on earth. If we’ll give all to God in absolute surrender and total trust, He will take us on the Journey of Destiny, teach us to walk by Faith, and entrust us eternal treasures. He will build His Faith in us – Faith that moves mountains; and prepare us to be used mightily for His Glory!

Lord, build in us Your Mountain-moving faith; and empower us to WALK BY FAITH and not by sight, in Jesus name.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
