SHOWERS

I will make them and the places all around My hill a BLESSING; and I will cause SHOWERS to come down in their season; there shall be SHOWERS of BLESSING – Ezekiel 34:26

God’s Showers are Sovereign Blessings – “I will cause showers to come down in their season.” No one else has the audacity to declare such, but the Sovereign God!  There is only One Voice that can command the clouds to send the rain. He is the One who sends the rain upon the earth, and scatters the showers upon the green herb.  Grace is His Gift that is never be created by man. Ours is to ask and believe; His is to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Eph.3:20). Jehovah challenges us: “Ask the LORD for rain in the time of the latter rain, the LORD will make flashing clouds; he will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone” (Zech.10:1).

His Showers are Seasonable (not seasonal) Blessings – “I will cause showers to come down IN THEIR SEASON.” The Almighty God turns the season of drought into the season for showers. He transforms a season of great gloom, depression, and heaviness into a season of striking lightings and bright showers.  Premised on your diligent obedience, God promises: “then I will give you the rain for your land IN ITS SEASON, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil” (Dt.11:14). You shall not miss your blessings in their seasons or your seasons of blessings, in Jesus name!

His Showers are Bountiful Blessings! Showers differ from trickles. When God gives a blessing, He usually gives it in such a measure that there is not room enough to receive it. Amazing Grace! Immeasurable Mercy! Abundant Life! We need all such virtues in ample dimensions to keep us humble, to make us prayerful, to make us holy, to make us zealous, to preserve us through the travails of this present life, and ultimately to usher us into heaven. We cannot do without His Saturating Showers of Grace and Mercy.

His Showers are Needful Blessings! What would the ground do without showers? The farmer may break the clods, sow his seeds, but what can he do without the rain? Just as absolutely needful is the divine blessing. The labourer works in vain until God bestows the showers. The Psalmist testified: “You water its ridges abundantly, You settle its furrows; You make it soft with showers, You BLESS its growth” (Psa.65:10). God will release His rains and “bless your growth”! Moreover, the King “shall come down like rain upon the mown grass, like showers that water the earth” (Psa.72:6). His showers will cause the righteous to flourish and to have “dominion also from sea to sea” (Psa.72:7-8). May those be your portions in Jesus name!

His Showers are Manifold and Multiplied Blessings – “I will cause showers to come down…” The word is in the plural. God’s Promise is to send varied, manifold and multiplied kinds of blessings: the blessings of His Presence, Peace, Power, Protection, Prosperity, Progress, Provisions, Fruitfulness, Good Success, Increase, Enlargement, Strength, Divine Defence, Well-being, Wellness, and Wholeness! All His blessings go together, like links in a golden chain. He who gives Grace for Salvation also gives Grace for Sanctification, for Healing, and for Comfort. He deals in “Showers of Blessing”!
