PURSUIT OF PURPOSE

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus – Philippians 3:14

What is PURSUIT? Pursuit is living for a cause or a mission with all you’ve got; believing in that purpose and giving it all it takes.

PURSUIT is having a directed drive for your dream, an unrelenting running with your vision, and a vigorous going for your goal.

Purpose is of no value without pursuit. Pursuit is what gives purpose value. It is the force that transforms your purpose into reality. When you don’t pursue your purpose, you can’t possess it. You must be committed to mobilising your energy and resources in the pursuit of your God-given destination and purpose.

Purpose and vision – the unveiling of purpose – are not ends in themselves. Knowing where you are going is the first step, the actual pursuit is what makes it a reality.

The focus, strength, vitality and vibrancy in your pursuit reveals the VALUE of your purpose. Many people lack the energy and enthusiasm for pursuit simply because they either have not discovered or do not believe in their purpose, dreams or visions. They are easily distracted into trivial pursuits and futile ventures, and end up in doldrums.

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men (Pro.22:29).

Pursuit of purpose however demands that you to be selective in what you engage your resources of time, talents and treasures in. It matters WAHT you PURSUE! Don't fill your time with trivial and mundane pursuits that are incongruent to your purpose – your reason for being!

History is filled with the tragic stories of those who pursued riches and ended in ruins; and others who pursued mundane pleasures, transient power, hollow promotion and vain popularity, but reaped the harvest of pains! Purpose is what to pursue – fulfilling the specific set of assignments your Maker sent and ‘gifted’ you to accomplish on planet earth. In the course of doing so, the corresponding resources required, whether these be contacts, connections, relationships, riches, wealth, power, popularity, or even pressures, will come with the pursuit of purpose!

The pursuit of purpose will ultimately lead to other worthwhile and noble pursuits such as the pursuits of truth, wisdom, righteousness, and peace. The moment the question of purpose is settled, be ready and swift to jump into service at a moment's notice.
