PURITY AND WISDOM

Bible Meditation:
Genesis 39: 1-21

A wise man fears and departs from evil, but a fool rages and is self-confident – Proverbs 14:16 (NKJV)

Purity is the primary condition to register for the Principal thing! Purity gives automatic access to supernatural wisdom. Purity distinguished Daniel in wisdom and power. Even in a strange land, he stood out in distinction. Purity gives access to the instructions of wisdom, which lead to your distinction on earth. Wisdom aligned with purity in Joseph; and in due time, Egypt’s Pharaoh bowed to his wisdom: “There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9).

When purity is toyed with, wisdom gives way to foolishness. Solomon was such an irony of wisdom and foolishness. The wisest man in his generation took some really dumb decisions. God had commanded Israel not to make any alliances with the heathen, but Solomon did just that, and married the Pharaoh’s daughter (1Kg.3:1). Even after God had given him wisdom, he continued marrying the daughters of heathen kings, in their hundreds (1Kg.11:3). To satisfy them, he built temples to their idols and worshipped with them. His idolatry ultimately led the entire nation into sin, and might have cost him his soul. If the wisest man ever could mess up so terribly, where does that leave you and I, but for the Mercy of Christ?

Never forget this truth, that wisdom is rooted in purity: But the wisdom that is from above is FIRST PURE, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy” (Jam.3:17). Divine wisdom demands divine “sanctity”. You need to walk in purity to safeguard the sanctity of the soul – your heart and mind. Sin is foolish; righteousness is wise. When you live righteously, you are on the path to wisdom, and everyone connected to your life benefits (Pro.13:20).

Sin is a sinker, a stinker, a destroyer, a poison to the soul, and a millstone tied round the neck of humanity. You cannot afford to sink your destiny in sin! Anyone who mocks at sin will end up in mockery: “Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour” (Pro.14:9). Would you make a commitment to flee sin, pursue purity, and walk in wisdom?

Adetokunbo O. Ilesanmi (Meditations)

Prayer:
Lord, grant me grace to flee all appearances of sin, to pursue purity, and thereby walk in wisdom, in Jesus name.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
