1 Timothy 4: 6-16

“For bodily exercise profits a little, but GODLINESS is PROFITABLE for all things…” – 1 Timothy 4:8a

GODLINESS – reflected through PERSONAL SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES – is eternally profitable: “For bodily exercise profits a little, but GODLINESS is PROFITABLE for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come” (1Tim.4:8). Spiritual Disciplines are authentic keys to personal impact. Prayer, Meditation, Bible Study, Fasting, and Service create a deeper connection with God, leading to inner peace, improved focus, and the development of Christlike character.

Spiritual disciplines are intentional practices that lead to inner transformation of heart and mind, and a stable foundation for growth and maturity. This inner transformation equips Believers with the tools for consistent growth, allowing us to positively influence our communities and the world. Meditation and journaling help to increase awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and actions, leading to a deeper understanding of oneself and connection to others. Also, through the disciplines of prayer and Bible study, we cultivate a more profound connection with God, which strengthens our faith and provides spiritual direction.

Ten Notable Spiritual Disciplines that produce profound Personal Impact are:

Meditation and Reflection: Contemplating spiritual truths and engaging with God's Word to understand His Will and nurture a deeper relationship.

Prayer: Communicating with God and seeking His Direction and Presence.

Bible Study and Scripture Reading: Engaging with biblical resources for deeper understanding of God and His Ways.

Fasting: Practice of self-denial for spiritual focus; abstaining from food or other mundane things to focus on God.

Worship and Fellowship: Expressing reverence, adoration, and praise to God.

Fellowship: Gathering with other Believers to worship, share in faith, and for mutual edification.

Service: Serving others as an expression of faith, love, and devotion to God.

Solitude and Quiet Times: Spending time alone with God to cultivate intimacy and learn to listen to His Voice.

Submission: Yielding to God's Will and trusting His Plan for our life.

Gratitude and Simplicity: Cultivating an attitude of gratitude – a thankful spirit, prioritizing, focusing on what truly matters, and living with fewer worldly attachments.

Paul illustrated the impact of spiritual disciplines: “But I DISCIPLINE my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified” (1 Cor.9:27). Athletes train intensely to win a perishable prize in secular races. Similarly, Believers must avoid aimless living, and pursue spiritual growth with devotion, not for fleeting but eternal reward. We must give more commitment to our faith in Christ than a world-class athlete gives to winning in the Olympic.

Regular engagement in spiritual disciplines helps to improve focus and cultivate inner peace and stability, making it easier to navigate life's challenges. Cultivating these inner qualities strengthens our spiritual foundation for a more meaningly life of faith. A deepened faith from spiritual disciplines can become a catalyst for positive change and impact in the world.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
