MYSTERIES OF ZION: LOOK UPON ZION

“LOOK UPON ZION, the city of our appointed feasts; Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet home, a tabernacle that will not be taken down…” – Isaiah 33:20

The MYSTERIES of ZION are diverse and precious. It’s therefore of utmost important that we “LOOK UPON ZION” (v.20). Yesterday we considered few of the mysteries of Mount Zion. Let’s take a closer look upon more of Zion’s mysteries:

Strength and Security are established in Zion: “The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!” (Psa.110:2). Strength is multiplied in Zion: “They go from strength to strength, each one appears before God in Zion” (Psa.84:7). Zion’s inhabitants are immune from Fear: “Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’ concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. The Lord of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread” (Isa.8:12, 13). In Mount Zion, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2Tim.1:7). David did not measure Goliath’s stature; he sized the giant up relative to God’s infinite height. Moses did not count Pharaoh’s army before deciding to believe God. Refuse to be weakened before any situation.

Mount Zion is the base of the Army of the Lord: “Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain…” (Joel 2:1a). Paul described his son in the faith, Timothy as “a good soldier of Christ” (2Tim.2:3). This is the model for every believer in Christ. Paul again admonished us to “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Eph.6:10-11).

Holiness is the standard in Zion: “Your testimonies are very sure; Holiness adorns Your house, O Lord, forever” (Psa.93:5). Again the Psalmist affirmed: “Your people shall be volunteers In the day of Your power; in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth” (Psa.110:3). In Zion, every king follows the King of kings with absolute loyalty; there is no room for mutiny or rebellion: no selling out to Satan. We are sold out to God.

Deliverance is guaranteed in Zion: “But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions… Then saviors shall come to Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s” (Obad.17,21). Mount Zion is the place of deliverance, purity, and possessing of possessions! Mount Zion is the platform for the establishment and perfection of God’s Kingdom.

Zion is the city of Peace and Abundance of blessings: “My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places” (Isa.32:8). Just like God dwells in untouchable bliss, He desires for us His children, lives that are unthreatened by any form of fear or harassment. Isaiah 33: 20 calls our attention to Zion: “LOOK UPON ZION, the city of our appointed feasts; Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet home, a tabernacle that will not be taken down; not one of its stakes will ever be removed, nor will any of its cords be broken” Lack is not the language of Zion.  “NONE” is not the norm of Zion! Sickness and Sin are alien to Zion: “And the inhabitant will not say, “I am sick”; The people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity” (v.24).. Zion operates in abundance of peace, health and well-being. In Zion, we possess all our possessions!

Mount Zion’s dimensions surpass the earthly. Zion has both temporal and eternal dimensions – the Glorious Church and the Triumphant Church: “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels” (Heb.12:22). What a mighty and glorious assembly Zion is! You cannot be “at ease” in such a company of champions (Amos 6:1).
