Bible Meditation:
2 Timothy 1: 1-7

“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands" 2 Timothy 1:6

PASSION is indispensable to LEADERSHIP IMPACT: "Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands" (2Tim.1:6). The principle of Passion demands that leaders actively cultivate and utilize their God-given gifts rather than shrinking back in fear. In today’s meditation passage, the Apostle Paul mentored young Timothy, a leader in the Church at Ephesus, addressing a potential inclination toward timidity or discouragement in the face of opposition.

The apostle used the image of a fire that needs constant tending to stay a bright flame rather than a dying ember. This stirring up or “fanning into flame” requires ongoing, diligent effort, and points to a necessary zeal and passion in exercising one’s calling and gifts. It infers that the gift, though present, can become dormant if not actively used and sustained. Verse 7 directly contrasts the “spirit of timidity” or “spirit of fear” or cowardice with a spirit endowed with power, love, and a sound mind. This spirit empowers leaders to act with boldness and conviction, a key component of passionate leadership.

Passion is intense desire and active enthusiasm. Caleb at age 85, exemplified passion: “Now therefore, GIVE ME THIS MOUNTAIN of which the LORD spoke in that day…” (Jos.14:12). Ecclesiastes 9:10a says: Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might…” Our Lord Jesus Christ portrayed passion and compassion; hence, He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38b). Moved by genuine love for humanity rather than carnal desires, He declared: “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work” (Jh.4:34b). By passion and focus, He “endured the cross, despising the shame” (Heb.12:2b).

Passion is not just an idea a person possesses; it is an idea that possesses a person. God sent each of us into this world on an assignment – to do something into which we can pour our hearts. Colossians 3:23 exhorts that we live passionately: “And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” Passion persuades! Daniel's steadfast commitment to prayer and refusal to compromise his faith, even in the face of death, demonstrate passion. Apostle Paul was driven by passion, unwavering resolve, a quest for God, and a longing to know Christ more, and experience His Presence more fully (Phi.3: 7-14). Despite facing numerous challenges, he remained steadfast in his commitment to build up the church

We would only be remembered in life for our passions; hence the need to locate a consuming passion in leadership, and pursue it. We must be passionate about life, and act from our passions. Passion is the catalyst of Pursuit!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
