JOY AND CONTENTMENT

Bible Meditation:
Philippians 2: 1-16

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe – Philippians 2:14-15, NIV

Paul walked in the revelation that the Lord Jesus Christ emptied Himself of everything but love when He died on the cross for our sins. In that stead, Paul’s prescription for contentment is an attitude of unselfish humility. His selfless and humble attitude helped him see his imprisonment as a divine appointment. Think of it: Had you been imprisoned under Paul’s circumstances, wouldn’t you have moaned and groaned, demanding the guards give you special treatment.

Reflecting the life of Christ, Paul emptied himself of “self” and allowed unselfish humility to drive his attitude and his actions. This is the first step to learning contentment. Paul encourages all believers to go one step further: live a life that is devoid of grumbling, complaining or arguing. This leave room for only one thing – JOY! (Phil. 2:14-15). That’s why he concluded: “But godliness with contentment is great gain” (1Tim.6:6). Your joy does not depend on anything material or temporal.

As we exchange our selfish attitude for one of joyful humility, others will take note and be drawn closer to Christ. As we allow God to work in the midst of our brokenness and inadequacy, His strength rushes in to fulfil our need. Beloved, make a commitment to be joyfully humble and experience God’s transforming work in your life and in the lives of others. Relying on His strength, your life will reflect Christ and you will be content and joyful no matter the circumstances.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
