JESUS IS OUR PEACE

For HE HIMSELF IS OUR PEACE, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of division between us – Ephesians 2:14

JESUS – the Eternal Son of God – is the Father’s expression of Peace to the world. Peace is personalized in Jesus. When He was born, the angel’s clear, unmistakable message, through the shepherds, to the world was “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth PEACE, goodwill toward men!” (Lk.2:14). In this world that is full of bigotry, conflicts, divisions, enmity, hatred, and schisms in the guises of class, colour, ethnicity, and race, Jesus longs to manifest as OUR PEACE.

In Christ, the barrier between Gentiles and Jews has been effectively broken down. At the authority of the Prince of Peace, all other walls which engender wars among the human race shall ultimately fall down flat in Jesus name! Having put right our relationship with God, Jesus empowers us to work at breaking down the barriers between us and others. Wesley sang: “Hark the herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King; Peace on earth, and mercy mild – God and sinners reconciled!”

“For HE HIMSELF IS OUR PEACE, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of division between us; having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus MAKING PEACE, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and PREACHED PEACE to you which were afar off, and to those who were near” (Eph.2:14-17). Having brought PEACE, Jesus is now seated at the right hand of the Father (Heb.12:2). Today, you can encounter peace with God, experience the peace of God, and enjoy peace in God, all because JESUS is your Peace!
