JESUS – THE LIGHT OF LIFE

Then spoke Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the LIGHT of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life – John 8:12

JESUS CHRIST is the LIGHT of LIFE. He is the Light that guarantees Life. He is the Light of the world. He is everything that the world should really long and look for: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a GREAT LIGHT: those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a LIGHT has SHINED” (Isa.9:2). Isaiah’s Great Light became the Child that was born and the Son that was given, whose Name is Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace (Isa.9:6).

John the Beloved testifies of Jesus as the TRUE LIGHT: “In Him was LIFE; and the life was the LIGHT of men.  And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness did not comprehend it” (Jh.1:4-5). The Gospel writer took pains to differentiate between John the Baptist as a witness of the Light and Jesus as the TRUE LIGHT who lights every person that comes into the world (Jh.1:7-9). Psalm 36:9 confirms the same truth: “For with You is the fountain of life: in Your Light shall we see light.” There is no genuine and eternal light outside of Jesus. Take away Christ, and even the light of education and knowledge become severely limited and prone to error. The ‘light’ of occultism and mysticism are nothing but false ‘lights’!

Not only is Jesus the Light of the world, He calls those who believe in Him “the light of the world” (Mt.5:14). His design and desire is that you “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Mt.5:16). You and I are meant to arise, shine, and synchronize the light of God’s love and life to illuminate the darkness of the world. When we work together to display Christ’s Love and demonstrate His Life, the Gospel will shine bright and brilliant and attract throngs of people to Jesus – the Light of the world!

Beloved, the LIGHT had dawned upon you. His Glory has risen upon you. You have no reason to remain in the region of darkness: “the people who sat in darkness saw a GREAT LIGHT, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death LIGHT has dawned” (Mt.4:16).
