INSIGHT

In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my INSIGHT into the mystery of Christ,  which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets – Ephesians 3:4 (NIV)

INSIGHT is another vital dimension of LIGHT. Insight is the capacity to gain an accurate and deep understanding of someone or something; faculty of seeing into inner character or underlying truth. It is synonymous with: intuition, perception, discernment, and acuity. It is the ability to have a clear, deep, and sometimes sudden understanding of a complicated problem or situation. From a divine perspective, Insight – Inside Sight – is the ability to see deep within and tap into your God-given inner spiritual and mental resources for resounding impact in life. Impact is a direct product of Insight! The Insight you have on any particular subject or aspect of life determines the degree of impact you will make in that field. Insight comes from within but is always demonstrated on the outside, in the form of impact – visible and often tangible results.

Although insight is essentially an inside affair that is enhanced by the Holy Spirit, it is sustained and strengthened through diligent study of God’s Word and other inspiring resources; awareness, education, and learning; plus lessons from life’s experiences. Insight emphasizes the significance of a keen awareness of your field, upon which the divine spark alights. A person of insight has a firm grasp of existing and potential needs, conditions, opportunities, and barriers in an area of life. Impact involves active, applied, diligent, dynamic, and pragmatic imagination. It is therefore seldom seen among the indolent or slothful. There is simply no short-cut to Insight. The Light of Impact will always side-line the lazy. What then does Insight demand? Effective questioning brings insight, which fuels curiosity, which cultivates wisdom. Also, reflective thinking turns awareness and experience into insight. Indira Ghandi said: “The power question is the basis of all human progress”!

Above all, Impact is a product of Word-encounter! Peter in a moment, encountered the Word by the Lake of Gennesaret. The Word triggered off the miraculous in his life, such that he hauled a net-breaking harvest in his fishing business, in the same waters that had hitherto refused to release their resources (Lk.5:1-10). The encounter he had with God’s Word ended his life of misery, and he came to realise that a moment’s Insight could worth a life’s experience. Insight is not always about gaining more knowledge or understanding. It is about gaining a new perspective in which the same context takes on new meaning. All it takes is one fresh insight, strongly acted on, to take you to a completely new level. Peter’s context did not change, but his perception and response did. Positive response to God’s Word will produce Insight for maximized impact.

If you must live a productive and impactful life, you must be prepared to launch deep into God’s Word. Every launch into the deep produces an amazing catch. When Peter obeyed and thrust out, he caught more than he bargained for (Lk.5:6-9). When Joshua embraced and obeyed the Word, it ushered him into a life of incredible Impact (Jos.1:8). As much as practicable, let your life’s decisions and actions be grounded on Insight. Thomas Carlyle said: “Nothing is more terrible than activity without Insight”! Even so, Insight without action is worthless. Our Creator and Maker, the ultimate Source of Creative Insight, is also the dynamic Mover of all things. He gives Insight so that we can have positive Influence and make powerful Impact on our world, from our corners in creation.

Paul wrote to Timothy: “reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you INSIGHT into all this” (2Tim.2:7). Beloved, please reflect on all you’ve been reading, and the Lord will give you INSGHT into all things, in Jesus name!
