HOW FAITH COMES

Romans 10: 17-21

So then FAITH COMETH by hearing, and hearing by the word of God – Romans 10:17

We have focused on knowing what faith is, what it is not, how vital it is to life and destiny, the seed-nature of faith and the measure of faith that we have already received at salvation! A key question remains: HOW DOES FAITH COME?

Many Christians confess “LACK of FAITH” when in fact they may be failing to exercise the measure of faith already in them. The apostles were often rebuked for their weakness in faith, yet they grew up to become men of great faith. After the Lord had silenced the winds and stilled the storms, He rebuked fear in the disciples: “And He said unto them, Where is your faith?...” (Lk.8:25a). Sometime after, we read of these same set of people: “And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all” (Acts 4:33). Acts 17:3 described them as the people who had “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6). When faith comes, the same can become your experience.

How does faith come? How is faith received or obtained? It is generally assumed that faith comes by praying for faith. No! The Bible declares: “So then, faith comes by HEARING…the WORD of GOD” (Rom.10:17). Faith must COME to be in you. You were not born with the God-kind of faith. You are not the author, source or originator of faith. It comes to be in you through the hearing of the Word of God. Revelation is the mother of faith. Faith comes by the revelation of God’s Word. Unless God speaks, you cannot hear; and there can be no faith! You cannot believe without hearing. What you hear is what you can believe and act upon.

Hearing the Word of God is not hearing some man-made doctrines, religious facts or fables about God and seemingly spiritual things. Faith for Salvation comes by hearing God’s Word of Salvation. Faith for Healing comes by the revelation of God’s Word of Healing. The same goes for deliverance, prosperity, miracles, fruitfulness in life and ministry, and every other blessing ordained and reserved for God’s children. Faith comes by hearing “the Word of Faith” (Rom.10: 8). If you find your faith to be weak or sagging in any aspect of life, then you need to expose yourself to God’s Word in that area.

God is a faith God. When He speaks, His Word communicates His faith. The Word of God is the Word of Faith (Rom.10:8). The Word of God is the Source of Faith. Faith is tied to God’s Word. God places infinite value on His Word, because if you couldn’t trust His Word, you could never trust Him (Psa.138:2). Romans 10:17 doesn’t say that faith comes by simply reading or memorizing the Word of God; even though reading and memorizing scriptures are important. Faith comes by hearing the revealed Word (Rhema) encapsulated in the Written Word (Logos). Above all, faith comes by hearing the WORD of GOD – JESUS CHRIST, the Living Word (Jh.1:14)! For us who have heard and believe God’s prophetic Word that the new month of March is our month of Mercy and Favour, faith is “must”. We must commit to hearing, reading, studying, meditating on and obeying God’s Word. By faith, we’ll surely walk in Mercy, Favour and Victory in Jesus name!

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
