Psalm 62: 1-12

“He only is my rock and my salvation: HE IS MY DEFENSE; I shall not be moved” – Psalm 62:6

Upon the authority of Scripture, I declare that GOD IS MY DEFENCE and STABILITY: “He only is my rock and my salvation: HE IS MY DEFENCE; I shall not be moved” (Psa.62:6). David wrote Psalm 62 while he was under attack from his enemies. And as tempting as it might have been to take matters into his own hands, he chose to wait on God. Life is filled with ups and downs. But sometimes, the hardest place to be is in between. The storms of life often come relentlessly; they seem endless, successively crashing against us until we feel as though we can’t take any more. In such times of despair and desperation, Psalm 62 offers three valuable lessons.

First, we must wait. The safest place to be when we feel like we're under siege is waiting with the Lord. He has all power and all control. And when we choose to wait with God, rather than going at it alone, we experience His power and presence like never before. It’s understandable that we want answers and relief immediately, but the Lord acts in His own perfect time, and He’s never late. Therefore, we must wait for Him to guide us to the next step – even when that means resisting our natural desire to react quickly and take control of circumstances. When change doesn't happen as quickly as we think it should, we start to wonder if the universe is conspiring against us. The truth is: the time we spend waiting is not wasted!

Second, we must wait in expectant faith and quietness of soul. Few seasons of life draw our hearts closer to God than when we're waiting. Our ears are more alert to His voice when we're keen to hear from Him. Our eyes are quicker to recognize His power and provision when we've been looking for Him to move. When we quiet our mind and carnal tongue, we give God an opportunity to speak His words of hope and trust to our heart. Instead of letting anxiety and worry occupy our thoughts, we focus on God’s promises from Scripture. Then He gives us patience, trust, courage, and the assurance that He cares and is in control. When we pour out our hearts to God and wait for Him to make the way, we see Him do what only He can do!

Third, we must keep in mind the motivation for this waitingGod’s intervention. Our focus must be on the Lord, not on the troubles, ourselves, or other people. We must learn to filter out whatever is pulling our attention away from trust in Almighty God, who is working according to His will and timing. We can put our trust in places, in money, in our own wit or our own abilities. But nowhere is safer than with Him who made everything, knows everything, and can restore anything.

Beloved, when the storms of life batter you, make sure that your feet are planted on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. Do not despair or wonder, What am I going to do? Rather, ask, What is God doing? And be assured – He is doing something. Jesus is your Sovereign Lord, abiding Friend, and constant Companion in all of life’s trials. He understands what you face because He has already been through them Himself on your behalf. Nothing is sweeter in life than the peace of mind and rest that come from Him.

When we can go to bed at night with the assurance that we belong to God and all is well with Him, we can sleep without any disturbance from the affairs of this world. This doesn’t mean we do not have any difficulties or that life is all rosy without troubles. No! We rest in the peaceful assurance that we have been forgiven by God and because we know He is in control of our lives and all we face. He has the answers before we even know we have a problem. He alone is our rock, our salvation, and our Defence, in whom we find Stability.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
