GOD IS GOD, SATAN IS NOT

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world – 1John 4:4

People often think of God and Satan as opposing but equal forces with the same unlimited power. This is however far from the truth! God is God and Satan is not! God is the Creator of all. Satan created nothing and he is a mere creature! God is the Originator and Possessor of Unlimited Power. Satan’s power is delegated, counterfeit or usurped by craftiness.

God – the Genesis of Light and Life – is greater, stronger and more powerful than any force of darkness or death. He does what He pleases and no one can query Him: “Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did He in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places” (Psa.135:6). Satan’s power is only limited to what God allows. When Satan supposed that misfortune would make Job curse God, God told Satan, “…Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand…” (Job 1:12). Satan could therefore not lay a hand on Job’s person (his spirit and soul). Satan had to play by God’s rules!

God is in perfect control and total charge over everything. As Christ’s followers therefore, we do not need to be paralyzed by fear of Satan’s threats against our destinies or his power over our lives or the lives of other believers around us. Satan tempts us and tries to influence us, but the Word of God assures us, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1Jh.4:4). The powers of evil around you are no match for the Power of Jesus within you. The Satanic spirit of error can never overcome God’s Spirit of truth that is in you! Let’s be reminded of the lyrics of a classic hymn: “All hail the power of Jesus name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him Lord of all!”
