GOD’S WORDS OF HEALTH (1)

“And the LORD will take away from you ALL SICKNESS, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt...” – Deuteronomy 7:15a

Beyond trusting God for Healing, Believers in Christ must lay hold on GOD’S WORDS of HEALTH: “And the LORD will take away from you ALL SICKNESS, and will afflict you with none of the TERRIBLE DISEASES of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them on those who hate you” (Deut.7:15). In this chapter of the Book, God was telling Moses what blessings His people would receive for obeying His commandments. This verse specifically describes a State of Divine HEALTH, in which diseases have no place at all. The curse of harmful or “terrible diseases” which God’s people had suffered from, was broken; but beyond freedom from diseases, God’s Covenant-promise includes commensurate retribution against the haters and persecutors of His people.

Christ’s package of Redemption comprises the blessings of HEALING and HEALTH, both already bought and paid for through the Blood of Jesus Christ. It is God’s will to heal whenever His covenant-people are sick, but His Perfect Plan is to keep us in DIVINE HEALTH. The ideal for inhabitants of Zion is a life that’s totally devoid of sickness and disease: “And the inhabitant will not say, “I am sick”; the people that dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity” (Isa.33:24). We operate by the combined covenants of Healing and Health; and the Word of God presents ample promises on both. Here are few other powerful Words of Health in the Scriptures:

Exodus 23:25-26 includes but transcends healing: “So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I WILL TAKE SICKNESS AWAY from the midst of you. No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfil the number of your days.” Conditioned upon serving the LORD God diligently are: the provision of sound nutrition; wholesome health devoid of sickness; fruitfulness and victory over barrenness and miscarriage; and premature death.

Psalm 105:37 depicts the reality of Divine Health among God’s people – the Israelites: “He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was none feeble among His tribes.” If these could operate in Divine Health in the Old Covenant, we in the New need not be subject to the bondages of diseases and sicknesses. Healing and Health are entrenched in Redemption’s package in both the Old and New Testaments: “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and BY HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED” (Isa.53:5); “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – BY WHOSE STRIPES YOU WERE HEALED” (1 Pet.2:24).

Christ has TAKEN AWAY SICKNESSES and REMOVED DISEASES from our domains: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses” (Mt.8:17b). Though Healing is of God, His Perfect Plan is for us to not be begging and pleading for healing while under the incessant assault of the devil, demons, and diseases, but to live in DIVINE HEALTH and Wellness. Our Creator knows exactly what it takes to keep the human body and soul in sound and excellent Health (3Jh.2).

Our Father has purposed that we enjoy the full Inheritance of His Covenants of HEALING, HEALTH, and Wellness, as we cherish and obey His Words. God’s Word says, concerning all of Satan’s threatening emissaries: “You shall not be terrified of them; for the Lord your God, the great and awesome God, is among you” (v.21).
