GOD’S POWER IN JUDGEMENT

Bible Meditation:
Exodus 15:1-21

The LORD is my Strength and Song, and He is become my Salvation: He is my God, and I will prepare Him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt Him. The LORD is a Man of War: the LORD is His Name – Exodus 15:2-3

God’s great power is not only manifested in creation and preservation, but also in Judgement. God is powerful in creation, preservation and judgement! When He smites, none can resist Him or rescue from His hands. The Flood of Noah’s generation was a classic example of divine judgement: the entire race – less eight people – was swept away (Gen.6:1-9:18). Few generations later, Sodom and Gomorrah and all the cities of the plain were destroyed by a shower of fire and brimstone from heaven (Gen.19:1-29). Fast forward to Egypt, the land bowed to divine judgement and Pharaoh and his host were impotent when God blew upon them and overthrew the horses and their riders at the Red Sea (Exo.14:1-31).

The spontaneous responses of Moses, the Israelites and Miriam to the display at the Red Sea were: Worship and Songs of Triumph! Contemplating God’s Power in Judgement will provoke at least three responses – reverence, worship and trust! Encountering God’s power causes us to tremble before Him in utter REVERENCE. To treat with impudence the One who can crush us more easily than we can crush an ant would be a “suicidal stance.” Little wonder the Psalmist counsels the kings of the earth: “Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little…” (Psa.2:12).

Pondering on God’s great power in Judgement also causes us to WORSHIP and adore Him. Who can consider the awesomeness of His power without bowing down in worship before Him, except a rebellious heart? The heart that has been cleansed by the blood of Christ will bow in homage and say: “Who is like unto Thee, O Lord…glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” (Exo.15:11). Finally, meditating on God’s Power in Judgment reinforces our TRUST in Him. When this God is standing by you and is on your side, no one can stand against you. No prayer is too hard for Him to answer. No adversary is too strong for Him to subdue. No need is too great for Him to supply. No predicament is too difficult for Him to resolve. The Lord shall triumph gloriously on your behalf. He shall become your Strength, your Song and your Salvation!

Prayer:
Lord, let my meditation on Your Power in Judgement cause me to tremble in reverence, to worship in adoration, to be strengthened in trust, and to experience total triumph at all times and in all places in Jesus name.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
