EXCEEDING GREATNESS OF GOD’S POWER

“And what is the EXCEEDING GREATNESS of HIS POWER toward us who believe, according to the working of HIS MIGHTY POWER” – Ephesians 1:19

Paul the Apostle prayed for Believers to encounter the revelation of the EXCEEDING GREATNESS of GOD’S POWER: “And what is the EXCEEDING GREATNESS of HIS POWER toward us who believe, according to the working of HIS MIGHTY POWER, which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come” (Eph.1: 19-21). These scriptures offer deeper insight into the Power of Christ’s Resurrection! They imply that the exceeding greatness of God’s Power was uniquely displayed and demonstrated by the Resurrection and Enthronement of Jesus! That same Power is available and able to enliven, elevate, and enthrone every Believer in destiny!

Although our interest in today’s meditation is the Greatness of His Power, these verses of Scripture present successive links of a golden chain that’s worth accentuating and appropriating. We need to reflect whether we have received the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to know Christ, and whether the eyes of our understanding (our heart) are being enlightened to know the HOPE, the RICHES, the GLORY, and the GREATNESS of HIS POWER. In so far as we yield ourselves to the Strength of God’s Might, He will raise us from the grave of sin and cause us to sit with Christ in Dominion and Great Power.

In this “psalm of ascension,” the apostle emphasizes and affirms the eternal Supremacy of Christ: “And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the Head over all things to the church” (v.22). We can almost follow His tracks, as all the evil powers which rule the darkness of this world drop far beneath Him. The ascending Lord is high over all, and if we claim our right as members of His glorified body, we also shall stand above all our spiritual adversaries. It is easier to descend on an enemy from above him than to seek to assail him from beneath. By His divine design, Christ needs the Church as much as the Head needs the body, because it is through the Church that He fulfils Himself. That’s why all of us with all of Him!

We’re dealing with the tremendous Power of the God who holds the oceans in His hand, created the land on which we stand and walk, spoke the galaxies into existence; He who parted the Red Sea in a moment and dismantled the walls of Jericho without a single blow (Exo.14:21; Jos.6:20). Even the sun and the moon stood still at His command (Jos.10:13). God is infinitely great: “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, measured heaven with a span and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? Weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?” (Isa.40:12). Isaiah 40:22 says further: “…Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.”

The wonder of it all is that He is the same God with whom we can have a personal relationship through His Son Jesus Christ, and by the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. His exceedingly great and mighty power is now available to all who believe, because Jesus died, spoiled Satan, principalities and powers, and rose from the dead. His resurrection prompted the unprecedented release of Unlimited Supernatural Power! This Power that raised Jesus from death and enthroned Him as King of kings and Lord of lords is: exceedingly great; mighty; and at work toward al who believe.

By this power we are liberated from the slavery of sin; defeat the devil, demons, and diseases; and become manifested sons of God and heirs of His Kingdom. By the Revelation of the Exceeding Greatness of the King’s Power, we are enlivened, elevated, and enthroned in destiny, to positively impact our locations and generations!
