Matthew 8: 23-34

...Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm” – Matthew 8:26b

The DIVINE WAY MAKER specializes in stilling fear and calming storms: “But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm” (Matt.8:26). The inevitability of storms is part of the reality of life. The disciples were in the boat with the Lord, yet a “great tempest” arose (vv.23-24). Following Jesus does not exempt us from trials; it ensures He is always in the boat with us. The Sleeping Saviour signifies His perfect peace and trust in the Father. In contrast, the disciples’ panic – “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” – reveals a focus on the magnitude of the problem rather than the Strength of their Companion (vv.24-25). Our Lord Jesus rebuked their fear, which was intertwined with their lack of faith: “O you of little faith” (v.26).

The term “little faith” was not a rebuke of their request to be saved, but for believing that they could perish despite Him being in the boat. The storm cannot destroy the boat if the Creator is inside! He instantly created a “great calm” from a great tempest, changing immediate danger into a miracle opportunity! Psalm 89:9 declares: “You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, You still them." The “raging sea” symbolizes chaotic and menacing settings. The "Divine Way Maker" does not just manage the storm; HE RULES IT. When the waves are at their highest, threatening to overwhelm, He has the authority to make them still, turning a chaotic situation into a perfect calm.

Having defeated the great storm that tried to debar Him from advancing to the next ministry assignment, the Lord proved Himself as the Way Maker not just over nature, but over chaotic, demonic problems (vv.28-34). However, the townspeople asked Him to leave because His Power disrupted their pig-based economy (v.34). People may ignorantly ask the Lord to leave because His “Way” requires giving up their own plans or comforts. Beloved, let’s stop focusing on the waves. When fear rises, let’s activate our faith by remembering Who is in our boat. Faith is a choice to rely on His Power, not our feelings. We must not hesitate to call upon the Way Maker. The disciples were wrong to panic, but right to go to Him. Now, let’s embrace the “great calm” He has brought to strengthen our faith for the next assignment!

In Jesus’ Name I declare that:

The Divine Way Maker will make a way for me where there seems to be no way. Because He is in my boat, I will not perish, I will not fail.

Every storm raging against my life, family, finances, career, and calling is stilled by the Power of Jesus. I access my season of Great Calm!

Every demonic situation that has defied human power is subject to Christ’s Authority in my life. I will not be afraid; I choose faith over fear!

I embrace Your Peace, even amidst the tempest. I shall reach my expected end gloriously and testify to the Power of the Divine Way Maker.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
