Hebrews 4: 9-16

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” – Hebrews 4:16

Believers in Christ are privileged with bold access into DIVINE PRESENCE and REST: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need(Heb.4:16). Today’s text illustrates how to actively press into God’s Rest and live from His Presence. True Rest requires spiritual labour – not that of doing more work, but of stepping out of our own strength to rely on God. When we stop striving to secure our own future, we gain access into the Throne room of Grace, where Christ wins all battles for us.

In this world, to rest is to stop working. But in God’s Kingdom, we “labour to rest”! Rest is a spiritual territory that we must intentionally seize. It is a posture of the heart that refuses to panic, worry, or manipulate outcomes. Many people are spiritually exhausted because they are trying to play God – to fix their own mistakes, open their own doors, and carry their own burdens. In contrast, the believer is invited into the Divine Presence and Rest that’s patterned after God's own Rest on creation’s seventh day. This means looking at our lives, challenges, and future, and declaring, "It is finished because Jesus already paid for it." Therefore, we can cast all cares on Him (2Pet.5:7).

Verses 9 and 10 dwell on the promised Sabbath. When we enter this rest, we completely finish working in our own human strength, just as God did after creation. To experience this, we’re instructed on the holy pursuit of peace: to “labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief” (v.11). The opposite of rest is unbelief. We can consciously keep our minds anchored in faith and not slide back into anxious striving. When anxiety attacks, we counter it by running straight to God’s Word and the Throne of Grace.  Through our Great High Priest, we can walk boldly into His Presence and exchange our weakness for His supernatural peace (Isa.26:3).

All of these come by the Agency of God’s Word which is alive, powerful, and sharper than a two-edged sword. It exposes hidden motives, fears, and doubts, cutting away the anxiety that stops us from resting (vv.12-13). Jesus has passed through the heavens as our Empathetic High Priest. He understands our human weaknesses and temptations because He faced them too, yet remained without sin (vv.14-15). Bold Access to Grace and God’s Presence is our ultimate destination (v.16; Matt.11:28). We don't approach Him in fear; we approach Him boldly!

In Jesus Name, I prophetically affirm that:

I refuse to worry; I choose to enter God’s Territory of Rest. I am done with empty, anxious hustle; I work from a deep posture of inner peace.

The Living Word of God is slicing away every root of fear, doubt, and panic from my heart. I walk boldly into the Throne room of Grace, knowing my heavenly Father completely accepts me.

My weaknesses are exchanged for the Strength of my Great High Priest. I receive divine mercy and timely grace for all of life’s challenges.

My future is perfectly secure because I have rolled all my cares onto the Shoulders of Christ. I rest in God's Presence as He works behind the scenes for my favour. I am unbothered, unstressed, and fully protected by the peace that passes all understanding.

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
