Bible Meditation:
Psalm 139: 1-24

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are Your works; and that my soul knows very well  Psalm 139:14

The King of Glory is not only the Creator of the heavens and the earth, He is also my Maker. I will celebrate my Maker, for “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”; marvellous are His works, and that my soul rightly appreciates (Psa.139:14). Imagine this: God took something worthless, dust, and made it into something priceless – by the impartation of His Breath (Gen.2:7). Nothing is accidental about my making. The human heart beats for 70, 80, and more years without faltering for a second. My Maker gives it sufficient rest between beats. He gave the human tongue flexibility to form words, and made a brain to comprehend them. Let’s ponder on some ‘wonders’ of His divine design and details of the human body:

  • Your body contains about 100 trillion cells
  • There are 72 kilometres of nerves in the skin of the average human being
  • Your small intestine could stretch to a length of more than 6metres
  • The left lung is typically smaller than the right lung, to make room for your heart
  • An average human scalp has the potential for 100,000 hairs
  • A human being loses an average of 40 to 100 strands of hair a day.
  • The human body has over 600 muscles, constituting about 40% of the body’s weight
  • By the time you turn 70, your heart will have beat some 2 ½ billion times, at an average of 70 beats/minute
  • Each square inch of human skin consists of 6 metres of blood vessels.
  • We shed about 600,000 particles of skin every hour
  • We shed and re-grow outer skin cells about every 27 days – almost 1,000 new skins in a lifetime.
  • The average human body contains: enough iron to make a 3-inch nail; enough carbon to make 900 pencils; enough fat to make 7 bars of soap; enough phosphorous to make 2,200 match heads, and enough water to fill a 10-gallon tank!
  • The human brain is about 85% water
  • Your feet account for a quarter of all the bones in your body, with 52 bones in the feet alone.
  • The largest cell in the body is the female reproductive cell (the ovum). The smallest is the male sperm!
  • It takes 17 muscles to smile but 43 to frown!

What great care the Lord has taken to place such minute details in the bodies He has created! The enormous complexities of our bodies reflect the divine genius and wisdom of our great Creator. The wonder of His divine design is beyond breath-taking; it gives us countless reasons to celebrate and worship Him. Let’s stand in awe of our Maker, who made us and gives to all “life, breath, and all things” (Acts 17:25).

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
