FROM BLINDNESS TO BRIGHTNESS

“To open their eyes, in order to turn them FROM DARKNESS to LIGHT, and from the power of Satan to God” – Acts 26:18a

In Christ, we are transformed from Darkness to Light – FROM BLINDNESS to BRIGHTNESS: “to open their eyes, in order to turn them from DARKNESS to LIGHT, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me’” (Acts 26:18). This was Paul’s witness before King Agrippa. He had recounted: “at midday, O king, along the road I saw a LIGHT from HEAVEN, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me” (Acts 26:13). Paul was not a stranger to the Light of Jesus (Acts 9:3; 22:6).

This Emissary of Light revealed how God uses Light to deal with darkness: “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2Cor.4:6). God commands Light! No degree or density of darkness can debar His Light! Creation bears witness: “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light” (Gen.1:2-3). Darkness bowed to the Light!

To encounter Christ is to encounter Light: “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true light which gives light to every man coming into the world” (Jh.1: 4-9).

Paramount among the mandates of the Lord Jesus is the Mission of Light: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me….to proclaim LIBERTY to the captives and RECOVERY of SIGHT to the blind…” (Lk.4:18). Jesus brought the Liberty of Light to replace the Bondage of Darkness! He introduces Himself thus: “I AM the LIGHT of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (Jh.8:12). Whoever follows Jesus has the LIGHT of LIFE – the Light that guarantees eternal and abundant life. Jesus assures us of the Winning Light for all dimensions of our destiny.

Paul wrote about unbelieving Israel: “But their minds were BLINDED…Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away” (2Cor.3:14a, 16). Prior to coming to the Lord Jesus Christ, the wandering soul is lost in spiritual blindness: “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has BLINDED, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them” (2Cor.4: 3-4). In Christ, the canopy of darkness is removed: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a GREAT LIGHT; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined” (Isa.9:2). This is fulfilled in Christ Jesus (Mt.4:16).

The Believer has a Light-flooded Destiny: “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines EVER BRIGHTER unto the perfect day” (Pro.4:18). We have been “called out of darkness into His marvellous LIGHT” (1Pet.2:9b). Our prophetic responsibility is to “walk as children of Light” (Eph.5:8): “ARISE, SHINE; for YOUR LIGHT HAS COME! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising” (Isa.60: 1-3). Never forget: We are transformed from darkness to light; from blindness to brightness!
