THE BEAUTY OF BREVITY

Bible Meditation:
James 3: 1-18

For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body – James 3:2

“…Isaiah said of our Lord, “He will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what He sees with His eyes, or decide by what He hears with His ears” (Isaiah 11:3). Jesus heard and saw many things, but He never uttered a word on His own. He said of Himself, “Whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say” (John 12:50).

When the Pharisees came to Jesus with the woman caught in adultery, He did not reply to their question immediately, but knelt for a moment and scribbled something in the sand. I have no idea what He wrote, but I think I know what He was doing: He was waiting to hear from His Father.

When He finally spoke, He spoke one short sentence: “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her” (John 8:7). Those few words accomplished more than any self-derived sermon would have achieved. Even today those words resound around the world. We must STOP and THINK before we speak, but more to the point, we must STOP and PRAY.

James says we must be “quick to listen [to what God has to say]” and “slow to speak” (James 1:19). This is not slowness of ignorance, emptiness, timidity, guilt, or shame. This is the slowness of wisdom born of dwelling quietly with God.”

Our Vision

The vision of KCOM is that:
"the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas" (Habakkuk 2:14).
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
